Praying According to God's Will

"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." 1 John 5:14-15 KJV

Praise the Lord! This Scripture says that we can have confidence in God that He will answer our prayers!

How?

"If we ask anything according to His will."

God's will is not hidden from us; if it was, how could we have faith when we pray? We wouldn't have a basis or foundation for our faith. God tells us to have faith when we pray..."But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering (James 1:6a). What is the result of a faithless prayer? "For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:7). Our God is a just God. He would not tell us to do something that we could not do! When God says in His Word to have faith, or to pray in faith, that means we are capable of doing it!

God's will is His Word, the Bible. You cannot have true faith unless you base it on God's Holy Word; not on your feelings or opinions!

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6a)." People are destroyed for lack of knowledge of God's Word, and all of the benefits (Psalms 103:2-5) that they don't know belongs to them. Satan and demonic spirits have a field day on those people. Notice God says, "My people," not the sinners, but His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge! A good illustration is someone who buys an insurance policy and doesn't take advantage of all of the benefits...all because they failed to read the information sheet.

If you want to see results in your prayer life, you must pray according to God's will. What is His will? His Word! If you have a need, you need to search the Scriptures that cover your specific need or request and then integrate them into your prayers.

Following is an example of how to pray in line with Scripture:

Father, I come before You with a need. I need You to show me what direction to take in this area of my life. (Be specific) I am trusting in You with all of my heart. I will not lean on my own understanding. I acknowledge You in every area of my life. In the name of Jesus I ask that You please direct my path so that I can be in Your perfect will.

Your Word says that You will instruct me, teach me and guide me in the way that I should go. I am trusting You, my Lord, to show me the way that I should take. I thank You for the precious Holy Spirit. I thank You for sending Him to me to guide me into all truth.

I thank You that You care about every choice and every decision I must come face to face with each day. Thank You for making clear to me what Your perfect will is for my life. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

(Scripture References: Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalm 32:8; Isaiah 48:17b; John 16:13a)

After you have prayed, praise God for the answer! It is done! Speak and act as if the answer has already manifested in the natural! The answer is on its way! You have prayed according to His will.

If we would believe God, and learn to pray in line with God's Word, we would see incredible results!
